I have a happy heart tonight! We hosted our 5th Sips and Succulents event, but it was the first in my town! We not only Sold Out but the community support was so great that we had to waitlist! @twisted_laurel staff was not just a host but a partner for this event, and I couldn't be more thankful! The food, drinks and community was more than I had hoped! We had a kids table, new friends and two sets of people from hours away drive to come! .
I'll share more pics tomorrow of what we did, but tonight I'm thankful for our sweet little Mountain Community, and the support we shower over eachother! .
Who wants to see more #weavervillenc and #828isgreat events?
Went out last week and hiked and explored #ashevillenc with @katermonkey and had a blast. So much to do. Trails. Waterfalls. Camped 20 minutes out of downtown. Explored art and breweries and ate too much good food in town and at camp.
Happy Bachelorette Party to Brooke!!! 🥳

We have spent the past couple of days just relishing in how amazing our vacation was. The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful. Canada was breathtaking. So much so that we would seriously consider moving there one day. Then, we take the pups for a walk. Less than half a mile from our front door we are slapped with a reminder why we live where we live. Great southern heritage. Appalachian gospel music being sang on the front porch by three guys on a Saturday evening in the cove. Accompanied by a chorus of tree frogs. Our mountain life rules. #828isgreat#appalachianmountains@davidholtmusic#ashevillenc#lovemymountains#boxerdogs@newbegfittrng

Do you find yourself judging your body constantly?
Do you feel disconnected from what your body needs?
This workshop may be for you! We will be exploring gentle movement in the body and learning tools to help you safely arrive back to the present moment within. Learn how to become more compassionate, curious and connected with your body. Class will include a combination of lecture, group discussion, writing exercises, guided meditation, and gentle yoga.
We spend most of our lives disconnected and frustrated with our bodies, beating ourselves up about the things we perceive to be wrong. We will be focusing on meeting yourself where ever you are in your journey and finding a more compassionate place of gratitude, respect and curiosity with your body. This workshop will invite you to explore what it feels like to be present with compassion in your body, take care of it from a place of self-respect, practicing forgiveness and self-compassion while learning how to reconnect with the powerful wisdom your body holds.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal with a pen.
No yoga experience needed, all are welcome!
When: Sunday August 25th 4-6PM
Price: $35 pre-register, $40 at the door

This past spring we introduced a rotating art installation at our Biltmore Village location. Most recently, we showcased local artist and eyewear lover, @linda_gritta. Next, we will be featuring the whimsical floral artwork of @christine_d_longoria . We welcome the fresh transformation these paintings bring to our shop.
Please join us for an evening of culture, wine, and eyewear on Saturday, August 31st from 5-7pm to celebrate this art gallery opening.
We also encourage you to rifle through your junk-drawer, vanity, and center console in search of gently-loved/forgotten eyewear! We are in the beginning stages of starting a charity called L’optiqueLoves and our goal is to bring clear vision to low income and homeless families around Buncombe County. This has been a long time dream of ours and we're so excited to have your support.
It will be a spectacle!
“Our lives and their pathways are not fixed in stone; instead they are shaped by story. The ways in which we understand and share the stories of our lives therefore make all the difference. If we tell stories that emphasize only desolation, then we become weaker. Alternatively, we can tell our stories in ways that make us stronger, in ways that soothe the losses, in ways that ease the sorrow.” - David Denborough, “Retelling the Stories of Our Lives”
We are all suckers for a good story. It’s a defining characteristic of human beings, one that distinguishes us from all other life on this planet: we create & share stories. In fact, the science fiction author Terry Pratchett argues that “The anthropologists got it wrong when they named our species Homo sapiens (‘wise man’)… In reality, we are Pan narrans, the storytelling ape.” ⛰
Of all the stories we tell, the most powerful is the one we tell about our own lives. When we experience a major life event, whether a triumph or trauma, it becomes woven into the overarching narrative of our lives. The question is… What is that narrative? What is the story you are telling about your own life? Are you The Hero encountering challenges that will make your stronger & wiser? Or are you The Victim subjected to unjust punishments & cruel twists of fate?
Like most people, I can weave a great sob story about my life.. if I choose to. I can speak of heartbreak & betrayal… the pain of enduring two divorces (first my parent’s, then my own)… the loss of friends… the opportunities I deserved but never received… the frustration of still being single at 34… and on & on & on. ⛰
That is my Victim story. And it’s a story I’m no longer telling.
Instead, I’m starting to tell a different story. The one where I decided to move to my dream town & buy my dream house in the mountains. The one where I left an unfulfilling career and started my own business. The one where I decided to leave situations & relationships where I was treated like a stranger… not the loving, compassionate, creative person I am. The one where I am a child of God, put on this earth for a divine purpose. ⛰
