I LOVE our health program! Em and I are teaching the children how important it is to love yourself. We had the children split intro groups and write comments, words and positive phrases about there friends. Then the children wrote 2 compound sentences about why they are special. 🥰
So excited we had the opportunity to attend the TPAC Gala Late Party, an event to honor and contribute to arts education in our community. 🎭
I grew up in a family with a music educator, and because of that, music has always had a way of connecting me to the people I love most. 🎶 I also went on to pursue personal passions in dance and musical theatre. 👯♀️
And yet... I didn’t become a musician, or a dancer, or an actress.
I became a teacher. 🍎 And I try my HARDEST to sprinkle every element of the arts into my education practices because it’s just so dang important!
Arts education and integration allows children to:
✅ step out of their comfort zone
✅ develop their creativity
✅ enhance their imagination
✅ learn to take risks
✅ become confident in front of other people
✅ increase their resilience and growth mindset
✅ encourages problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making skills
✅ improve overall cognition (memory, language development, and executive functioning)
✅ find their voice
✅ enhance verbal and non verbal communication
✅ deepens cultural and self understanding
✅ provides opportunities for students they may not have otherwise had
And there will never be a day where I don’t advocate for it. 💖
Thanks TPAC, for all the opportunities you hand children and young thespians in Nashville. 🎉 Let’s celebrate. 🍾🥂
A fantastic field trip to the Zoo last week! What a way to spend the day! The giraffes were a definite highlight! ☀️🦁🐒🐯🐴🐢🐘🦒🦓🐆🐅🐆🦚🍃🌱 Thankful for the superstar teachers and parents that help make these excursions happen 🌟 and to @robzlamont for capturing the day - massive talent for taking amazing photos!
These beautiful storybooks from @secretmountainpublishing come with high-quality musical CDs that really help bring the books to life.
I love playing the classic jazz lullabies CD that comes with the book Dreams Are Made for Children right before bedtime. There are 15 songs from jazz greats like: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sara Vaughn, Nat King Cole and more. When we want to dance around, have fun and act silly I’ll play the nursery rhymes from West Africa and the Caribbean CD.
You really can’t go wrong with either of these books if you love music and nursery rhymes for kids. Bonus points for both books having vivid and engaging illustrations.

My first 3 weeks practicum at Cefa Brentwood JK2B🥰 I had such a great time with those kids and teachers there. Hopefully I also brought happiness for everyone.
Things are about to get all kinds of crazy around here again 🤷🏼♀️😅 I just roll with the phases and seasons as they come • redirecting more of my focus to my son and my other passion projects has made a big difference in his life and behaviors, and really in my own in ways I often forget. .
We have been finding some great things at goodwill lately for our unschool homeschooling and for co-op, we even found a vintage German army rucksack for our field bag/kit, how cool is that! Once I get everything together I’ll share that 🙃
• what have you been up to? Any good thrift finds?
Consumer Safety + Trust | As a parent when you're purchasing a product from a company, you trust that in giving them money, that their product will meet all safety requirements.
Unfortunately that's not the case for companies like Amazon and Etsy. Their process is the opposite of most big name companies; where they certify first and allow the product in their store. These two companies in particular are similar to eachother in that any product on their site for sale is not regulated whatsoever and you will not be compensated should any problem or even fatality arise.
We've traded convenience for safety and it's now become our job to make sure the products we bring into our home are safe.
When I say safe I mean a product that is certified, doesn't contain lead and chemicals that cause cancer. Amazon and Etsy claim they aren't liable for any product that they sell because they're only the middle man. That would be true if they were just a carrier like FedEx or UPS but they're not. They are big companies profiting off of our purchases.
Some say that you just have to do research/monitor what you're buying however items listed on these sites that show as recommended, prime or shipped from Amazon are still coming from a different vendor with products that are not certified for safety. The bigger issue is should anything happen to you or your family with one of their products, they are not liable. You will recieve minimal/no compensation. That's where the issue lies in that they are not held accountable for the products they're selling.
So what can you do? I've shopped on Amazon plenty but after finding out more about these horrible fatalities and lead/chemical levels in 6 out of 10 toys I am no longer supporting these companies. They don't have the best interest of their customers. 》You can physically go into a store
》Buy directly from the brand
》Shop at your local businesses
》Purchase from trusted brands that have been around for more than 25 years because if they do have a recall (which happens) they will remedy it immediately and you will be compensated
These @bondsbumpsandbaby onesies have been a staple for us ever since he was a newborn. The wondersuit zips both ways making diapering super easy especially in the beginning when you're sleep deprived and don't want to snap together little buttons in the dark at 3 AM 🤣
Most onesies have a size cap which makes finding pajamas difficult but these go all the way past 24 months up to size 3. I've heard horror stories of children using 2 piece pajamas and in the middle of the night discovering how to take off their pj bottoms and soiled diaper to create midnight artwork 🤢 You're basically in the clear from that ever happening that is until they figure out how to zip which can take some time luckily.
The footie covers and uncovers, the younger months the hand covers do the same to prevent nail scratches. The fabric is so comfortable and the designs are fresh and modern.
The only catch is they ship from Australia and take awhile but it's so worth it. We just plan ahead and make a purchase when they have 40% off.
Now that I've shared our best kept secret, well not a secret anymore, go ahead, make your life easier and buy some! They also make great gifts for anyone having a baby shower.
