The PhotoVogue Stories Part 2:
I think it was back in 2015 or so me and @hannahohlsson started working together. Me as a photographer and she as a ballerina. I had a new book in mind (I have published two books prior) that I wanted to start working on and I was looking for a ballerina to work with.
We wasn't completely sure of how we wanted to execute the idea for the book, but we had the core elements there – ballet and fashion. We decided to do some test shoots to get the feeling of the project. We booked a trip to Gotska Sandön (The Isle of Sand) to explore the very unique landscape for two days before the boat came to pick us up and sail back to Stockholm.
Just before sunset we left the camp to explore the beach and its sandbanks. I don't know if it
was the tide or so, but the sand stretched far out into the ocean. Curious as we were, we went to explore. I saw the two pools frame a part of the sandbanks and creating lines that aligned with the horizon and the dramatic sky.
Hannah positioned herself and I started to compose my image. I have to say it's thanks to Hannah that this image turned out so good. It was her idea to create a movement in a dance move, instead of just posing. It really adds do the power and forces of nature coming from the waves.
For the occasion I had borrowed an Infra Red camera from @fujifilmnordic to try out – the
XT-1 IR. This image is captured with a 14mm lens if I remember correctly. My settings where F11 to maximize the depth of field and 1/500 of a second as shutter speed. I chose the IR camera because I think it made the monochrome images stand out from the traditional conversion I did with a regular camera. To process the images in a correct way to really
capture the power of IR was a bit tricky. But some Youtube videos later I got the hang of it! // @Johan_Stahlberg#fotografiska#fotografiskastockholm#fotografiskatakeover#johanståhlberg#fashion#fashiontalents#vogue#avantgarde#emergingtalent#johanståhlberg#editorial#art#photography#portraitphotography#fashionphotography#inspiration#fashion#fashioneditorial#fashionmodel#fineartphotography#fineart_photobw#fineart#PhotoVogue#ballerina#Vogueitaly
