Dessin du jour . .23 / 07 / 2019
Souvent il m'arrivait
Devant mon chevalet
De passer des nuits blanches
Retouchant le dessin
De la ligne d'un sein
Du galbe d'une hanche
Et ce n'est qu'au matin
Qu'on s'asseyait enfin
Devant un café-crème
Epuisés mais ravis
Fallait-il que l'on s'aime
Et qu'on aime la vie
Charles Aznavour - la Bohème
The cat is out of the bag! I’m very excited to come back to POP, only to re-enact my most ideal life for your viewing/listening pleasure: leasing broken down dwellings to starving musicians, and courting much younger women. Oh, yes, and and selling churros! #pacificooeraproject#laboheme#opera#hollywood#itsalushlife
The 2019 Hipsters are announced!
Several familiar faces take the stage this December in POP's annual production of La boheme: AKA "The Hipsters". Orson Van Gay II, last seen as Alfredo Germont returns to sing the poetic Rodolfo. Janet Todd and Kenneth Stavert, Baritone, stars of our recent Madama Butterfly return as Mimi and Marcello, respectively. Maria Dominique Lopez, mezzo-soprano, seen as the title character in The Medium two seasons ago returns as the siren Musetta. E Scott Levin (the only singer to appear in all four previous productions of Boheme) will once again assume the role of Schaunard. POP veterans Robert Norman and Luvi Avendano will share the roles of Benoit/Alcindoro. Adam Cioffari, with credits from Houston Grand Opera, Komische Opera Berlin, The LA Phil, and more makes his POP debut as the philosopher Colline. Parisa Zaeri Reaves returns for her third round as music director, leading this astoundingly talented cast from the piano.
POP’s trademark production is now a holiday tradition. The Hipsters will descend on Highland Park in their fifth reincarnation to bring Puccini’s most popular opera from 1830s Paris to 2019 Los Angeles. What new twists and updates will this production have? It’s too early to say, but rest assured up to the minute references, digs, and jokes will pop up throughout the show.
If you’ve never seen this hit production, you don’t know what you’re missing. If you’ve seen it before, come see what the new class of hipsters has to offer in 2019. Always a sold out production, tables will be especially hard to come by this season with only five performances scheduled. Plan accordingly. Performances December 6, 7, 11, 13, and 14 at 8pm. #thrilledtoannounce that I’ll be returning to the @pacoperaproj stage this December to sing the role of Musetta in The Hipsters!! I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this iconic production with an absolutely STELLAR cast! #lavocelatina
Took a lap in CA loving on my work-family and my family-family 💃🏻 I often ask myself if I miss the Bay Area, and my conclusion is usually
Meanwhile, @j.kear took a quick lap up the Matterhorn, got off a twice delayed flight from Switzerland and drove straight from the airport to meet me for my favorite annual tradition of tailgating at the Santa Fe Opera. 🎭 He arrived at the parking lot with Swiss chocolate in hand to add to our picnic: talk about earning big points in love. 🥴 It was La Bohème this year... So Mimì is up on stage gravely ill, Rodolfo is facing the grim reality of her death, John is fast asleep in his chair and my heart is full. ❤️ #laboheme#santafeopera#mahjong#playinthebay 📷 #1 by @cianaluna
