My IG account is full of hiking, backpacking, day trips, long road trips and everything in between. I’m really curious...if there was anything you could learn from me, what would it be? How to be comfortable backpacking as a solo female? How to start hiking? What is van life like? How do you make adventures happen? How to feel confident in nature as a solo female? On and on! I want to help and inspire ALL people to get outside - especially if I can empower other women. Whatcha think?
Day 93 - Part 1: Mt Kinabalu - Day 2 •
Woke up at 12:30 am from the sound of the torrential rain behind my window...”Shit” I thought, “they won’t let us climb any further”, as the small stream after a few hours of the downpour turned into a pretty powerful waterfall by now. I spent next few hours praying...Praying for good weather, for a chance to summit...At 2 am we had our wake up call, but still no guarantee that the gate will be open for climbing. I scanned the room, everyone looked very concerned. Hope was pretty much nonexistent...We all will have to go back down without a chance to summit...and no refunds to be issued either. What a waste!!!
3 am - still waiting for the news from the ranger, who went up to check on the conditions of the trail. Tension is rising...
3:40 am - Good News! Rain has stopped and over a hundred of us rushed to put the gear on. Me and a lovely couple from UK, whose honeymoon I have been shamelessly crashing, had two deadlines. One to make to the summit for sunrise, if there’s one after all that rain, and the second one to be down at the Low’s Peak by 7 am for World’s highest Via Ferrata. Since the gate opened so late, we had to sprint to the top, bypassing the slow moving traffic on our way up. 5:36 am - here I am, standing on the top of Mt Kinabalu, the sun is gently touching my face and the feeling of unapprehensible happiness started to fill every little cell of my body. We made it! We really made it!🏔🙌🔺4095 🇲🇾 #malaysia#borneo#mountkinabalu#hiking#sacredmountain#sunrise#thatviewtho#femalesolotraveler#solobackpacker#115daysofadventure#globetrotter#oneworld#wanderlust#travel#summer#countingmyblessings#seekingadventure#beautifuldestinations#countrynumber57#travelbug#lifewelltraveled
I was walking around in Old city of Seville then I saw a group of people who were wearing traditional dresses of Spain. Girls were looking so beautiful & Guys are gentleman. Everybody was so happy & I already got it they are participating in a function. There was a church just next to them. I thought let's visit church at least. Then I get to know that here a wedding going to be happen soon.
I have always seen Christians marriage in movies as in North India we don't have much Christian community. I was so excited to see a wedding but it's gonna be a personal event. I didn't want to stand there without permission.
I ask from a gentleman, do I need to go out or I can see the wedding ? He said, it's ok, you can be here :) Everybody was so much happy & it looks like I was more happy than these people. First Bride came then groom & everybody was standing. Then ritual things happened & wowwwww, I felt so lucky.
As I born on Xmas day, I always felt an attachment of me with churches :) And I really respect every religion every culture.
Questions like 'what am I doing with my life, and where am I headed to' keep popping up once in a while no matter how sure you are about these things at other times.
I just looked at the old travel pictures and read old stories I had written over time and these were an affirmation, irrespective of the direction I am taking, I have been most happy!
Are these questions common for you? How do you help yourself in such situations??

~Untuk Mengenang Masa Mudaku Yang Sembrono
Aku berjalan menuju terminal, orang-orang saling berpapasan di sepanjang trotoar, becak-becak dengan lonceng bersahutan, supir-supir bus yang sedang menunggu para penumpang pun memencet klakson dengan meriah sambil berkata, "Aikmal... Labuhan Kayangan..." Suhu kota Mataram 23° C langit cerah, biru tanpa awan.
