🌺"Fireflies lit the flowers, drawn by the damp air and mild scent of azaleas and dahlias. During the hottest summer months, Estrella and her cousins slept in the afternoons and woke at dusk, gardening by the lightning bugs’ glow."🌼

”Men and boys had no claim on their secret or their bodies. La Pradera was a world in which women did not listen to men just because they were men.” - Anna - Marie McLemore, Wild Beauty
Let’s talk beautiful book covers. Do they draw you in? Are you more likely to buy a book if it has a beautiful cover? I know I am. I won’t buy a book only for a cover but I am more likely to be pulled in by the cover first and if the synopsis sounds good I’m hooked. I’ve definitely been drawn in by pretty books that haven’t been good. I won’t name names but I’m sure we can all think of one.
🌸 Wild beauty is a book whose cover totally drew me in. The synopsis hooked me and the book was SO GOOD. It feels like a fairy tale. The writing is gorgeous and it made me feel like I was right there in the book. I can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a magical realism book.
It is hard to express how much this rose means to me 🌹 It is huge, beautiful and smells like heaven, but it means more than that to me. I planted this rose bush during the summer of 2018 when I was writing Wild Beauty. You will see some of it’s flowers and fallen petals gracing the recipe shots. Roses are an ally for grief, the smell connects through your nose to your brain and then straight to your heart in my opinion and their beauty is just beyond words. 👃🏼This rose bush has grown through the crossing of my stepmother last year and my father this year and been a balm for my spirit. Seeing and smelling this immense flower, the last of the season, was a huge gift for me. A reminder to me to keep my heart and eyes open and be grateful for the gifts of nature that are just outside my door 💫 The rose is pictured here with another favorite flower foxglove which continues to bloom right now despite the chill 🦊#wildbeauty#rosesforever
